I was referred to this group from a gentleman I met through Stracka.com.
They’re an amateur golf league called Amateur Golfers of Orlando who meet every third Sunday of the month. They’ve got about 140 members and have been around for 35 years.
It looks like there’s an annual fee of $34.00 and they only accept [...]

Win a Medicus Driver and Fight CancerPosted by ParFore August 16, 2008 Have you ever wanted a Medicus Driver? Well on October 18th 2008, one lucky winner could win my Medicus Driver. By making a donation of as little as $10 that lucky winner could be you. Read on and see if you are up to the challenge. My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2001. After chemo and radiation and a double mastectomy, she was in remission for a short time after that. However, doctors found that it had spread to her lymph nodes and at that point she became a cancer patient with terminal cancer. This means there is not a cure for her at this time, and unless an absolute miracle occurs it will take her life. Living with a terminal illness is very difficult on many levels. I've know people who found out they have this dreaded disease and they die within weeks. Our family has been fortunate to have close to 8 years, so far, to cherish our time together. This too presents challenges for the patient and family members. Dealing with the mental side of losing hair, wearing wigs, and hats can be extremely difficult for a lady. The first time I went to an appointment with my mom, I hung on every word as if the next word would be the one to set her free or seal her fate. After doing that for a couple of hours, I was exhausted. This week she had an MRI done and it showed 7 new tumors on her brain. This explains the nausea, headaches and dizziness over the last 4 weeks. Now that they know the cause, there are some treatment options, but they are called maintenance treatments at this point. She has several doctors' appointment this week and next, which should give us more clarity on the reading of the MRI. I got tired of sitting around and doing little to help the cause, so this week I signed up for the Liz Hurley Ribbon Run, which is a 5K to help support breast cancer efforts. The website for the 5k has a donations page where people can make donations to support me in my efforts to honor my mom and all other women who have had to fight breast cancer. I would like to ask each of you to join me in trying to defeat this terrible disease by going to my donations page https://www.lizhurleyribbonrun.org/donate.php?p=278 and donate to the cause. To sweeten the pot, I'm going to donate my slightly used (hit about 20 real golf balls) Medicus Diver to the cause. Sorry Lefties, it's a right handed club, but I'm sure you have a right-handed buddy with a bad slice. For each increment of $10 you donate I will put your name in the hat for a drawing for my Medicus Driver. They retail for about $199. I'm currently looking to add more prizes and will post those in future post. Here are the Rules. Follow them carefully
Sponsors Thanks in advance for helping with the cause, and check PARFOREGOLF.NET for weekly contest updates. Read More >> |
